Participating companies will work together with both an AMC Project Leader and research resources to identify common waste reduction needs within a group project setting.

The project will include the development of industry specific programs, company specific waste projects and self administrated waste audit systems.

In waste minimisation projects previously implemented both in Australia and overseas the outcomes typically result in a bottom line saving of 0.5-1% saving of annual turnover.

Across the companies and suppliers of different industry sectors there are several common themes which have been identified from previous demonstration projects.

These include:

• Water conservation
• Energy efficiency
• Minimising packaging
• Optimisation of transport
• Re-use of pallets
• Refurbishment of metal drums
