Cleaner Production Opportunities for the Metals Industry

Metals Industry

The Metals Group is one of the sectors which has worked together to cover many common areas of interest. Over the 18-month period, projects have been identified and environmental and economic benefits to participating companies have been achieved. The success of the group approach has been acknowledged by participating companies and leading Government bodies. Specifically, the NSW Environmental Protection Authority is providing funding to continue the process over the next 12 months, under its 'Profiting from Cleaner Production Partnership Program'.

The Metals Group has specifically addressed the cleaner production aims through:

  • Undertaking Cleaner Production Assessments for all members
  • Development of Cleaner Production Individual company plans
  • Implementation of these CP Company Plans
  • Development and trialing of Cleaner Production plans for common issues identified by the group
  • Development of Breakthrough planning for selected companies to take the leap into strategic planning for sustainability.
