Environmental
Change in the Electroplating Industry (ECEI)
This project provides an opportunity for
electroplaters and companies in the electroplating supply chain to participate
in an important joint project to reduce waste sent to disposal and reduce
the cost to industry of waste disposal. The NSW EPA has granted funds
from its Industry Partnership Program for this joint initiative between
the AMC and AIMF.
Phase 1
The Industry Focus Group will examine the known opportunities and research
new opportunities in the first phase (approximately 3-4 months) which
is referred to as "benchmarking research" in our proposal.
Phase 2
The second phase will involve testing by participants of various processes
and techniques chosen by the group. Members will test and report back
to the group the selected processes for evaluation and recommendation
on suitability for adoption by the industry. (Approximately 12 months
duration)
The results of the project will be reported to all stakeholders and
eventually made available to the industry as a whole.
As with all AMC Industry Focus Group Projects, the aims of the project
are firmly anchored in achieving a win for all participants. In this
project the environment wins and businesses bottom line wins.
What is in it for you!
- Chance to make bottom line gains in reducing waste disposal costs
- Opportunity to work with a group from your industry to solve real
issues and share results
- Opportunity to network with peers and government agencies in a non-competitive
and non-regulatory environment
- Opportunity to participate in creating the benchmarks and contributing
to environmental improvements in the electroplating industry - influence
your industry's destiny!
Participation will mean:
- Attending meetings approx every 6 weeks - times and dates to suit
majority of participants
- Sharing ideas, experiences and knowledge of the industry and waste
reduction ideas for general discussion
- Contributing ideas, experiences and knowledge of processes for further
development
- Some members will volunteer to test proposed solutions and experimental
ideas and report back to the group to evaluate
Why the AMC?
- A not for profit organisation with the aim of supporting Australian
manufacturing
- Experienced in creating and facilitating Industry Sector Working Group
activities
- Successfully working with the NSW EPA already in several other "Cleaner
Production Industry Partnership projects"
- Experienced in achieving bottom line successes from environmental
programs such as:
