The Metal & Machine Industry is the largest contributor to total manufacturing turnover in Australia and in NSW. The industry's turnover of $85,654 million for year 2000 was 37% of the total for manufacturing in Australia with the turnover in NSW being $25,861 million. Given the importance of this industry the Metal & Machine Focus Group was developed in 1997 and has been running for a number of years.
