Manufacturing of the Future-

The Advanced Manufacturing Centre is a one-stop-shop for manufacturing enterprises seeking to acquire, implement or manage the new technology and management processes essential for achieving international competitiveness, increased export sales and greater import replacement.

Based at the Australian Technology Park in Sydney, the Centre's objectives are:

  • To promote the redevelopment and re-engineering of the Australian Manufacturing sector by lifting the capabilities of enterprises to develop and use leading edge technologies and best practice manufacturing techniques.
  • To facilitate/initiate industry wide co-operation to develop generic solutions reducing the cost structure and improving the economic efficiency of the manufacturing sector.

To achieve these objectives the Centre:

  • Acts as a gateway allowing manufacturing enterprises to gain access to the latest R&D, technology suppliers, networks, consultancies and training services.
  • Helps to bridge the gap between the development of innovative technology by small and medium enterprises and its commercial application, and
  • Is an active forum for sector wide information sharing and problem solving on generic or non-competitive technology issues.

A not-for-profit and independent organisation, the AMC is now mostly self-funding although initially funded by the Commonwealth and NSW Governments.

The AMCs team of experienced professional consultants provide specialist expert consulting solutions for manufacturers of any type or scale. The Centre maintains strict commercial confidentiality when working with individual clients to address company specific issues or initiatives.

Bringing education and training opportunities to Australian manufacturers is a prime focus of the AMC. We have sourced the highest quality distance learning courses, ideal for companies based in rural areas and for manufacturing employees with time or travel restrictions. Recently we initiated an on-line project establishing a comprehensive catalogue of the latest courses available covering all aspects of manufacturing.

We are also linked into a national technology access and diffusion network, providing individual clients and industry groups with access to best Australian and overseas advice and expertise.

To address non-competitive or generic industry issues the Centre has established a series of widely representative Industry Focus Groups. Through these groups the Centre is working to reduce the cost structure and improve the world competitiveness of Australian manufacturing by developing workable solutions to key technology, marketing and logistical issues.

There are also groups from all industry types examining current issues such as waste minimisation, the National Packaging Covenant and Sustainable Business Development.
